Our Focus
Therapeutic Sound and Music
The Institute for Healing through Sound and Music is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation. It supports therapeutic musicians in particular those who are graduates of therapeutic music programs recognized by the National Standards Board of Therapeutic Musicians who offer live therapeutic music for people of all ages experiencing stress, physical or mental illness, and those who are dying or bereaved. Music practitioners are encouraged to be certified by nationally recognized programs and to maintain their certification through continuing education.
IHSM OFFERS
IHSM offers music practitioners professional membership recognition through a cross-program central listing as well as program based and approved continuing education opportunities through links to program sponsored webinars and similar CEU events promoted by the programs. Networking opportunities are available countrywide to expand knowledge and skill.The Institute provides informational programs of outreach to the community and health care professionals which includes educational presentations, resources, and a directory of certified music and sound practitioners.

Mission: The Institute for Healing Through Sound and Music supports, promotes, and elevates the practice of therapeutic musicians and sound healers to foster a sustainable practice in healthcare settings and other spaces of healing.
Vision: The Institute for Healing through Sound and Music seeks to empower the certified therapeutic musician by helping raise awareness of the profession in the local, regional, and national arenas.
