The National Association of Therapeutic Musicians (formerly the Institute for Healing through Sound and Music) is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation. It supports therapeutic musicians, in particular those who are graduates of therapeutic music programs recognized by the National Standards Board of Therapeutic Musicians who offer live therapeutic music for people of all ages experiencing stress, physical or mental illness, and those who are dying or bereaved. Music practitioners are encouraged to be certified by nationally recognized programs and to maintain their certification through continuing education.
Mission: The National Association of Therapeutic Musicians supports, promotes, and elevates the practice of therapeutic musicians and sound healers to foster a sustainable practice in healthcare settings and other spaces of healing.
Vision: The National Association of Therapeutic Musicians seeks to empower the certified therapeutic musician by helping raise awareness of the profession in the local, regional, and national arenas.
